People
  • Mao Zedong- he was the leader of the CCP in 1921, he also had more people killed then Hitler ans Stalin combined
  • Deng Xiaoping- he was one of China's major leaders after the death of Mao Zedong. He also helped of organize the Communist army
  • Chiang Kai-shek- he became the leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party in 1925 and established a Nathionalist government over China three years later.
  • Dalai Lama- is a spirtual leader of Tibet, he was exiled in India and he now lives in the USA. He was also awarded the Nobal Peace Prize in 1989.
  • President Richard Nixon- in 1972 he made the first historic visit to Red China, were the U.S. and China opened a diplomatic relations in 1979
  • President Harry Truman- he sent American troops over to stop the spread of communism
  • Sun Yat-sen- is when the first signs appeared during the last decade of the nineteenth century, when he formed the Revive China Society
  • Jiang Qing- or "Madame Mao"Mao forth wife was arrested and imprisoned after trying to rise to power after Mao died

  • permanent revolution- an atmosphere of constant revolutionary fervor favored by Mao Zedong to enable China to overcome the past and achieve the final stage of communism
  • communes- in China during the 1950s, a group of collective farms, each of which contained more than 30,000 people who lived and worked together

  • guerrilla tactics- the use of unexpected maneuvers like sabotage and subterfuge to fight an enemy
  • redistribution of wealth- the shifting of wealth from a rich minority to a poor majority
  • little Red book-was a collection of Mao's thoughts and it was hailed as the most important source of knowledge in all areas
  • 38th parallel- a armistice was finally signed in 1953 that still remains today, the boundary line between North and South Korea
  • red guards- were young radical supporters of Maos spread culture revolution, they burned bokks and destroyed old structures of society
  • Great Proletarian Cultural revolution- In 1966, Mao launched this, the Chinese name literally meant "great revolution to create a proletarian (working class) culture".
  • The Goddess of Democracy- is a 30ft statue that was made by the students demonstrators, it faces Mao picture in China to show that opposite of how he wanted things
